This unit is for patients with acute or chronic heart conditions, who are cared for around the clock, in three shifts, by experienced nurses.
The CCU has several beds separated by partitions. Each bed has a cardiopulmonary monitor (ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, heart rate and respiratory rate), central suction, a console for two oxygen flowmeters, several power outlets and its own lighting. Next to each bed there is a bedside cabinet, an over-bed table, a step stool to help patients move and a chair. The unit also has a ventilator for intubated patients and an emergency trolley with a DC-shock defibrillator, portable suction and a portable oxygen cylinder.
