Research and development is essential for the continuous progress of organisations that produce services, knowledge and technology. Assessing external and internal conditions, creating new knowledge, supporting staff creativity, finding new resources and developing models are among the main responsibilities of R&D units.
With this in mind, and with the aim of empowering staff and building a research culture, the hospital's research and development unit was set up in Tir 1388 (June–July 2009) as the first R&D unit in a non-governmental hospital.
Vision
The unit aims to be a creative, leading team in clinical research that improves community health, producing knowledge that raises public awareness and helps bring the community's health towards international standards, as far as its resources allow.
Mission
Given the hospital's standing in the country, the R&D team is committed to encouraging innovation and creating the right environment for research, improving the quality and quantity of the hospital's work by applying research findings. Equipping the unit will promote and improve research activity, and useful, practical projects will receive full support until they achieve their goals.
To fulfil this mission, and considering the hospital's research capacity, the unit has set the following goals:
Overall goal
To build and strengthen research capability; to encourage colleagues – especially the hospital's doctors and nurses – to carry out clinical research; and to support the hospital's excellence through research, education and consultancy, and by gathering information to support managers' decisions.
