The health education unit plays an important role in patient care and education. Its key responsibilities include:
- Developing and running health education programmes: creating programmes that raise health awareness among patients and their families.
- Supporting health education: health educators assess, plan, deliver and evaluate training, working with clinical and support staff to meet patients' learning goals.
- Keeping accurate records: maintaining patients' health records in an organised way, recording changes in care and keeping health charts accessible.
- Coordinating administrative tasks: helping patients complete paperwork, answering questions about the administrative side of care and passing patients' concerns on to the relevant clinicians.
- Effective communication: passing information and care needs between patients, families and the medical team so that everyone is informed.
- Running the office: making sure the unit is well stocked with essentials such as documents, stationery and medical supplies.
Their aim is to improve patients' understanding and overall health.
To raise awareness among patients and their companions and to answer common questions, the unit has prepared a set of patient-education leaflets, available in the patient education section.
