Preparation for X-rays of the lower back, abdomen (KUB) and lumbosacral spine. For this X-ray, your bowels need to be clear of stool and gas; for this reason, follow the instructions below carefully:

  1. On the afternoon of the day before the X-ray, eat a simple meal at 6 p.m.
  2. At 7 p.m. take castor oil and two bisacodyl tablets.
  3. At 8 p.m. chew two dimeticone tablets and swallow them without water.
  4. At 10 p.m. chew two dimeticone tablets and swallow them without water.
  5. At 6 a.m. on the day of the X-ray, take two dimeticone tablets, and come to the department at 8 a.m., fasting.

Women who think they may be pregnant should tell the staff.
